Submissions Call Out – 2013

This year, as an ode to our 25^th anniversary edition we are publishing under the banner: EVOLVE.

Use the theme broadly folks, be inventive!

We want your short stories, flash fiction, extracts and narrative pieces of all kinds, creative non-fiction, poetry, photography, original artwork, comics, graphic fiction, illustrations and anything else you can think of…

What we love: ‘A wariness of tidy endings, and a gleeful appetite for the strange and beautifully unexpected.’

All submissions for the 25th edition of visible ink must be received by Sunday 7th July, 2013.

All selected contributors will receive a free copy of visible ink 2013, to be launched in early November.

The usual $6 submission fee applies.

Text Submission Guidelines:

• All submissions must be original, unpublished works that have not previously won competitions or prizes.
• All written submissions must be 2,500 words maximum, poetry 50 lines maximum
• Please upload your work using a word.doc file
• Use double spacing and 12pt Times New Roman font (does not apply to poetry)
• Do not include your name and details anywhere in the document file. This is to ensure your work is read anonymously.
• On the Cover Letter please provide: your name, 50 word bio, e-mail address and phone number, and how you heard about Visible Ink 2013.
• Submissions are limited to one entry per person.
• Visible Ink reserves the right to disregard any works submitted that do not follow these guidelines.

Image Submission Guidelines:

• All submissions must be original, unpublished works that have not previously won competitions or prizes.
• Submissions may consist of up to four (4) images per folio.
• All images must be in JPEG format.
• On the Cover Letter please include: your name and 50 word bio, e-mail address and phone number, title of the piece corresponding to the name of the file (see below) and how you heard about Visible Ink 2013.
• Each image must be named to include your initials and be numbered (eg. initials_1.jpg, initials_2.jpg)
• Submissions to be sent as low resolution images no higher than 72dpi and no larger than 250kb. If your image is selected for inclusion, we will contact you for a high-resolution version.
• Please indicate if images are a series or individual pieces in the Cover Letter.
• Selected visual artworks may be printed in grayscale. If you want your work to be reproduced in full colour, please indicate this in your Cover Letter.
• You may submit one folio per person.
• Visible Ink reserves the right to disregard any works submitted that do not follow these guidelines.
